Embassy of Mongolia and Art Cafe at Lingua Global present two programmes in March 2010 in Asia House

1.      Scripts of Mongolia: How Genghis Khan Wrote - Talk with John Man and Sukhbaatar Davaakhuu 10 March 2010 6.45PM

The Mongols used several scripts over the 800 years of their history, starting with the decision of their leader Genghis Khan to adopt Uighur as the official script for his gigantic Asian empire. Uighur, now known as Classical Mongolian script, has seen a resurgence of its use in Mongolia in recent years. Sukhbaatar Davaakhuu and John Man explore the various scripts used by the Mongols, including Latin and the Phags-pa (Square script) used by Kublai Khan, and assess the significance of these scripts in Mongolian history.

2.      Cultural Heritage of Mongolia: Scripts and Calligraphy  - Exhibition in Asia House Fine Rooms curated by Unurmaa Janchiv and supported by Embassy of Mongolia 19 March – 2 April  2010. Private View 19 March 6:30PM

HE The Ambassador of Mongolia Altangerel Bulgaa will open the exhibition at the Private View on Friday 19 March at 6:30pm.
